Superstar brake pads are made to a custom formula by our manufacturer, They have a low temperature base with a high copper content. The low temperature base allows the pads to break in quickly and offer grip in low temperature and wet conditions. The copper content gives excellent heat transfer properties keeping the pad working well at high temperatures.

Brake pads are very simple, basically they are a mix of finely ground materials, glued and then baked under pressure onto the backing pad. Materials such as:

Organic and resin base
Organic fibres - ie kevlar etc
Glass and Ceramic fibre
Metal fibre - copper and steel

Now most pads are a mix of all of these in different quantities. But often pads are hyped up into a range and the marketing department is called in to decide which is the best and which is the most expensive. For example sintered pads are no more expensive to make than non-sintered, but people think they are better because they cost more in the shops!
